Kajukenbo is a hybrid martial art that combines Karate, Judo, Jujitsu, Kenpo, and Boxing. The name is derived from the parent systems: “ka” (karate), “ju” (judo”/”jujitsu), “ken” (kenpo), "bo” (chinese and american boxing).
Kajukenbo was founded in 1947 in Oahu, Hawaii. It developed out of a group calling themselves the “Black Belt Society”, which consisted of black belts from various martial arts backgrounds who met to train and learn with each other. This was the beginning of an evolutionary, adaptive style designed to combine the most useful aspects of the arts. We see this as the genesis of the mixed martial arts phenomenon today.
Ge Shou Dao is the "pathway of many styles". It is Professor Davies' adaptation and evoluation of the many continuing aspects of Kajukenbo.
